Phone Walls Do Not a Media Prison Make

What's up with Microsoft's fascination with wireless data transfer? This week the Zune. Next year a cell phone?

Yesterday the USPTO published Microsoft's patent app for a phone-to-monitor connection device. It's nothing fancy. Just multiple methods for a phone and monitor (or television) to communicate with each other. This way you can watch your phone content on your TV. Or use your cell phone as a remote. How 'bout using your cell phone as a DVR!

Here's one embodiment in which your cell phone wirelessly communicates to your TV's set-top box. (I love that Microsoft could've chosen any city, state or province in the world and the lawyers chose Karnataka, India for the weather report.)
